HELLO!!!

Hello! I am Minnie and is currently in middle school in class 8-6. In Ruamrudee International School, the grades are divided into sections. I am born in Thailand and is also living in Thailand. The weather here is really hot and sunny but some mornings are quite cool.Since it's usually hot and sunny, we could eat ice cream any day we want not like countries with snow. I can speak Thai, English, and Chinese, but my Chinese is not that fluent. At school, almost all our classes are in English except Thai class and language class. For the language class,we could choose any language to learn. I chose to learn Chinese. Chinese is a hard language with all those difficult and complicated strokes and characters. Whenever I have free time, I will usually play games, read books, listen to songs, and watch movies. Tetris Battle is one of my favorite games. I play it whenever I want to have a break from my homework. In school, we had miss lots of school days due to the flood. So now we have longer school days. Other than having longer days, we also have to come to school on some Saturdays.

Cool and Creative Innovations Invented During Thai Flood

Thai people are getting really inventive and creative with trying to think of new innovations that would help them adapt to the current flood. Now because of the flood, people couldn't live their normal lives where it's easier to do things and travel to places. Therefore they now have to live a new way of life that weren't prepared for at all. They have to wake up early in the morning to get to work and it takes hours longer to get to their work place than before. This is not the way of life they choose to live but no matter what they still have to face it and live with it. Although Thais are living under this awful condition, they still try to think of new ways to live easier.

There are lots of innovations that were thought of and invented during the flood by Thai people. One of them that appeals to me most is the flood alarm that is made of a pipe and a ping pong ball. This is very creative because we have never thought of something like this. It looks simple but is really useful and effective. This creation would allow people to sleep at night and not have to worry so much that it would flood while they are sleeping. This would also enable people to have more time to pack and move out before it is too late. This is a small issue compared to the bigger problems that lie ahead. Still the students took this issue up and made an innovation to help people with this problem. It was really clever and creative of them to design this. This would help lots and lots of people under circumstances like this. I also am looking forward to using it for it would be really helpful!

Troubles caused by The Flood

Bangkok is currently flooding and is creating lots of problems and complications. This flood has caused lots of trouble to people; some people had lost their jobs while some lost their houses and loved ones. If our house is flooded, we will have to lose all our pets like fishes and dogs but it's not likely that my house will get flooded. Our house is not likely to get flooded because it is built quite high.
The flooding that is currently happening in Thailand hasn't affected me directly yet, but it had caused my family and cousins lots of trouble already. Before moving to Pattaya, my family and I helped carry all the furniture upstairs except the sofas, chairs, and tables. Then my mom had covered the piano with a waterproof bag. We did this to protect the piano from getting wet and broken. We didn't want to lose the piano for it is very expensive. My family and I then moved to Pattaya for a while because we thought that our house was going to flood soon. When we came back home, we were surprised by how dry it was. We had gone away to avoid the flood but it ended up that we had wasted a lot of money for nothing. The trip has cost us a lot of money due to the expensive hotel rooms. We had no choice but to stay at expensive rooms because other hotels and rooms are already occupied. The flood caused my aunt to have to flee out of her house without even packing. While my other aunt has to continue living in her flooded house because there was no way out. Unfortunately, the flood hit my cousin's house in the middle of the night and no one was aware of it. In the morning after they have found out that their house was flooded but it was too late. Everything on the first floor was now underwater.  All their old things collection was gone with the water. Luckily they were able to get out of the house and are now living in a condo.
Now that some factories are closed down, prices tend to get higher. It is hard to transport certain goods due to the flooding. Some factories are only closing because of the flood while other factories are permanently closed. For this, many people are losing their jobs and are not able to live and survive.
Even though we are still safe and dry, there are other people who are living miserably because of the flood. My parents and cousins have helped them by donating money, food and things for them. Here are some pictures of people who are affected by the flood.

Identity

Identity is who you are. It isn't just your appearance but also what you think and believe. It is your whole self and the things that are located deeply inside you. Getting to know my identity and write it down is quite hard for me. It is quite hard for me because I have to think about it again and again to unravel secrets or doorways that would lead to many other things in my life. You need time to thoroughly think about it before those doorways are going to open up to many other things about you. Almost everything influences me and   represents my identity, even colors do represent your identity!

If I was to choose a color, I would definitely choose to be the color turquoise.I want to be turquoise because it's beautiful and elegant. It also reminds me of the calm and cool blue sea. Turquoise is a relaxing as well as a light color for the eyes. It makes me feel light headed with no stress or worries. My identity is represented by the color turquoise because it is me; I am the color turquoise. Those three pictures above represent the color I like and the complimentary color. The complimentary colors are the colors that are next to a color in a color wheel. So the complimentary color that I chose was blue.

There are lots of other things that influences me, for example my school which is RIS. Schools certainly influence people's lives because you get knowledge and education from schools. Therefore, RIS had influenced how I think and who I am. Other than this, movies and books also effects my identity. The movie House had given me the thought of being a doctor. Being a doctor is challenging but also important to the society.

Blog Post 1:Only Licensed Cameras will be allowed for Ownership

Hi Photographers,

Here's the topic I want to discuss in class.

Today, the government has declared by executive order that all cameras, video and still, are no longer legal to own.People are asked to turn in their cameras to the local police station to have them licensed.  Also, the camera will only take a photo from the hand of the licensed owner (fingerprint technology) Only licensed  cameras will be allowed to be owned by the general public.

Also, only newspapers and websites supported by the governement will be allowed to use cameras, and post photos.

Info: licensed cameras will have a device installed that:allows the government to know who took the photoallows the government to remotely dissable and destroy the cameras ability to take photos. If a camera is lossed or stolen it is the responsiblity of the camera owner to inform the police within one-hour of the loss or destroy the camera remotely by themselves.

Discuss how this would effect the following (Pro and Con for each):

1. Police- Pro: They have the advantage of not showing their bad doings into public
Con:

2. Families- Pro: When there are thieves, it could be easier to catch with the camera and the government could see
Con: If there bad pictures, it will get deleted

3. Students-Pro: teenagers wouldn't get to see perverted pictures
Con: Students couldn't take inappropriate pictures; limited learning resources because the government could not allow the students to look at bad pictures; students will be too optimistic because they won't see negative pictures
4. Reporters-Pro: they have to report more good things than to the bads things in the news
Con: They might get caught for taking pictures the government doesn't like

I don't like this new law  because the government is limiting our rights to take pictures and use the camera. What if the person isn't that good at taking pictures, then the government would delete it. Sometimes we want the pictures to be a secret in which we don't want others to be looking at it. People would also be seeing only someone's good doings without knowing that they are really doing lots of bad things because the government is deleting those pictures. We want the people to see the truth and the real things not the fake things that are hiding someone's real identity.

What makes a great photo?

I think a great photo consists of different shapes and lines but not too much. A great photo also need to have light. The photo also has to be creative and original and not like any other pictures. I like pictures with different colors and different shapes. A great picture should have a foreground and background. But the background shouldn't be overcrowded and there should be a focus that she want the picture to portray. It should also be interesting and moments that are hard to find.

WHO ARE YOU video

This video is about me and shows who I really am. Everything is true, the percentages and all the categories and things that I put in. I have my family  the first and the longest because they are really important to me and they shape my life. Just like what John Locke believes 'everyone is born with a blank slate' , these pictures are the times and experiences made my mind from a blank slate to who I am! These things influenced my life: my ideas, thoughts and metacognition too!!

Metacognition

Metacognition is in your everyday life but you just don't realize it. I think that metacognition isn't a hard thing to do because it just includes your common sense. People have different common sense so ofcourse everyone has different metacognition. There are different strategies during metacognition but I like strategies that includes thinking aloud because I feel like it's easier than thinking it in your head. I hardly have any difficulties encountered. This might be useful for me as a student because then I have the advantage knowing more about this image so it might help to be learn faster and better too.
